Comprehensive Range of Services "My goals are to reduce or eliminate pain and to restore function to as close to normal as possible," Dr. Lifland says. In some cases, this might require surgery, such as a hip or knee replacement, or arthroscopy, which involves examining and repairing a joint with a telescope-like instrument that is inserted through a small incision. After surgery, he works closely with therapists and primary care physicians to follow patients through recovery. If surgery isn't needed, Dr. Lifland often can suggest other measures, such as pain medications and physical therapy, which can provide relief and allow the body to heal itself. For patients requiring rehabilitation services, FDRMC will service inpatients at The Rehabilitation Center (the only such facility in the region) and outpatient rehabilitation services in the Department of Physical Therapy.
Dr. Lifland went to medical school and completed his surgical residency at the College of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey (now Robert Wood Johnson Medical School) in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He then moved to Minnesota and practiced with a large orthopedic group for more than 10 years. After that, he moved to Beeville, Texas, to set up a private solo practice. "It was the upbeat, energetic attitude at FDRMC that convinced me to make a move to Eagle Pass," he says. "Everyone -- the administration, nurses, physicians and staff -- is happy to be at the hospital and is committed to working together to serve this growing, booming patient community. I'm excited to be a part of this." Get Back in Stride
